Terms of Use
Draft. This text describes how Arcana works today and is written to be reviewed by a lawyer before the version with real stakes goes live. It is not legal advice.
1. What Arcana is
Arcana is a one-on-one card duel played in the browser. Both players use the same 20-card deck; the order of each deck is fixed by three sealed seeds before the first card is dealt and can be verified by anyone at the end of the match. Arcana is operated by the Arcana team ("we").
2. Who can play
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, and it must be legal for you to play games with prizes where you are. You are responsible for checking the rules that apply to you. We may refuse or close accounts that break these terms.
3. Your wallet is your account
You sign in by signing a message with your own wallet (MetaMask, Phantom, Rabby or another compatible wallet). We never hold your keys, your tokens or your ETH. Anything you approve in your wallet is your decision; we cannot reverse a transaction on the blockchain.
4. Arcana coins and cosmetics
Duels against the practice bot and duels between players award Arcana coins. Coins are points inside the game: they buy cosmetic card and table skins only, cannot be withdrawn, exchanged, sold or transferred, and have no monetary value. We may change how coins are earned or spent, and daily reward limits apply.
5. Duels with a stake (when enabled)
When staking is enabled, players may lock the same amount of a tokenized stock (SPCX, the SpaceX Robinhood Stock Token on Robinhood Chain) in an escrow smart contract for one duel. The winner may withdraw the pot minus a 0.5% fee; a draw returns both stakes. If a match is not settled within the contract's time window for any reason, either player can trigger a refund of both stakes directly from the contract. The token's dollar value moves with the market during a match; both players carry that risk equally. Network fees (gas) on Robinhood Chain are paid in ETH by the player. Staking is only offered where we are allowed to offer it and may be disabled at any time.
6. Fair play
Cheating, exploiting bugs, using bots to play staked duels, or interfering with the service is forbidden. We may cancel matches, void results, or close accounts when we detect it. Matches against the practice bot never involve a stake.
7. Availability and changes
Arcana is provided as is. We work to keep it online, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may update the rules of the game, the cards, the fees for future duels, and these terms; the terms in force are the ones published on this page. Stakes already locked in the escrow contract are governed by the contract's own rules, which we cannot change for a match in progress.
8. Liability
To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for losses caused by wallet mistakes, network congestion, third-party services (wallets, RPC providers, Robinhood Chain, Chainlink price feeds), or changes in the market value of any token. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
